I had a plan, or so I thought. However, it was an end goal with no structure in the middle — just a dream.

How was I supposed to succeed? Where did I go wrong? Have you ever thought that? I believe we all have at some point.

Well, an end goal with no daily plan is just a dream. But, a dream with structure is a plan.

Dreams don’t work unless you do. -Rachel Hollis

Let’s work on a structure to execute your dreams.

Ask yourself these questions.

First, we will work backwards.

  • What is my dream? (If you have more than one, see the note below.)

Note: Pick one for now and keep a list of the other dreams for later; we’ll get back to them. If you’re not sure which one to pick, ask yourself “which one makes me most excited?” — go with you gut and pick “it”.

  • What is the target completion/due date? (If you don’t have one, pick a date.)

Second, we will go deeper.

  • Why is this dream important to me? (Write it down in great detail, this is for you and your eyes only.)
  • What will obtaining this dream bring me?

Third, let’s think daily actions.

  • What do I need to do today to work toward this goal? (If your not sure, see the list below for ideas.)
  1. Writing one page a day for a year will be 365 pages, unless it’s leap year with 366 pages.
  2. Reading a five pages of a book in thirty days will be 150 pages in a month or so, depending on the month.
  3. Drawing one sketch a day for a week will be 7 sketches — I think you see where I’m going.

Focus on one goal and you’ll get it right or at least learn from it. Once you have momentum of one great thing, your other dreams will follow.

The key is to only to choose one dream at a time. It will give you the best results for obtaining your weirdest dreams.
